My Process
To inform my decisions as I build out the Rockbuster Stealth online catalog, I will perform an analysis of the database to answer the following questions:
Which movies contributed the most/least to revenue gain
What was the average rental duration for all videos?
Which countries are Rockbuster customers based in?
Where are customers with a high lifetime value based?
Do sales figures vary between geographic regions?
Initial Exploratory Data Analysis & Data Overview
After cleaning the data, I ran several queries to summarize the data in the database. This data overview helped paint a quick picture of the current Rockbuster Stealth catalog. I highlighted key data points that were of significant interest namely the average rental length, and number of movies per rating.
Highest and Lowest-Grossing Films
I first turned my analysis towards finding the highest-grossing and lowest-grossing films in our catalog. High-grossing movies included Telegraph Voyage, Zorro Ark, Wife Turn, and more, and must be included in our online catalog. Low-grossing movies included Treatment Jekyll, Crualty Unforgiven, Young Language, and more - these are to be cut from the online catalog.

Customer Demographics
Understanding our customers is crucial when building the online catalog. Here, we can see where all Rockbuster customers are located and revenue by country.
While it is evident that Rockbuster customers live throughout the entire world, the bulk of customers are based in India and China.
Revenue By Genre & Rating Popularity
Lastly, we analyzed rental rates of each movie rating and revenue by genre to determine both the most profitable genres and most popular ratings amongst our customers. This was the last piece of analysis needed to complete our findings.
Recommendations
With our current findings, I believe the following recommendations will help us create a successful launch strategy:
Add foreign language movies to our catalog, specifically those in Chinese and Indian dialects
Add more movies from other years
Prioritize marketing efforts in India, China, the United States, Japan, and Mexico
Focus on adding Sports, Sci-Fi, Animation, Drama, and Comedy movies to the online catalog
Make sure to include Telegraph Voyage, Zorro Ark, Wife Turn, Innocent Usual, Hustler Party, and Saturday Lambs in the online catalog
Create a customer loyalty program that rewards the top customers (this could happen on a quarterly or monthly rate)
